Hudson Valley Farmhouse

This charming Greek Revival farmhouse of 1820, was moved back from it's street-side location to sit nestled in several private acres of gently rolling countryside. As a quite retreat from New York City, the house was designed to be comfortable and casual, with furnishings that reflect its classical heritage.

Our approach pays homage to this buildings simple yet noble rooms, with the use of strong wall colors to accentuate the bold mouldings. No drapery treatment is used, which further enhances the architecture. Simple sea grass carpets set off the living and dining rooms. The eclectic interiors highlight many pieces of American Empire furniture, which were fabricated in the same era as the house. The secretary in the dining room holds a growing collection of bird nests, feathers, rocks, and other curiosities found on the property.

Because of its bucolic atmosphere, the owners have named their house Arcadia.
